designed as a flexible retreat within the santa monica Art house, this space balances utility and atmosphere with quiet precision.  conceived to function seamlessly as a guest room, music room, and reading room, the design responds to the client's love of art, books, and sound while remaining adaptable to daily life.

custom millwork anchors the room, integrating a concealed custom murphy bed within floor-to-ceiling cabinetry.  when closed, the bed disappears into a tailored composition of shelving and storage, allowing the room to read as a library and listening space rather than a bedroom.  books, modern art, and collected objects animate the cabinetry, reinforcing the room's personal and creative character.

warm wood tones, sculptural furnishings, and carefully considered lighting soften the architectural framework, creating a space that feels intimate, layered, and intentionally understated.  the result is a room that shifts effortlessly between uses — inviting rest, reflection, and creativity without ever declaring a single purpose.
