"modern organic - less is more"
where restraint reveals beauty, and material becomes art
PROJECT: SANTA MONICA ART HOUSE
powder BATH REMODEL
SCOPE: INTERIOR DESIGN
LOCATION: SANTA MONICA, CALIFORNIA
YEAR: 2025
THIS COASTAL POWDER BATH IS A MODERN REFLECTION OF THE ELEMENTS. LOCATED ON THE MAIN LEVEL OF A SANTA MONICA RESIDENCE, THE SPACE OFFERS GUESTS THEIR FIRST IMPRESSION OF A HOME THAT CELEBRATES ART AND DESIGN. ORIGINALLY DARK AND UNDERWHELMING, THE COMPACE 3' X 8' ROOM WAS REIMAGINED AS A LUMIOUS, MODERN JEWEL BOX.
EXPANSIVE 24" X 48" CARRARA MARBLE TILE WRAPS TWO WALLS, WHICLE STACKED MAPLE PANELS FORM A WARM ARCHITECTURAL COUNTERPOINT. A SOLID STONE BACKDROP ANCHORS THE VANITY WALL, FRAMED BY RECESSED LINEAR LIGHTING THAT EXTENDS SEAMLESSLY TO A HALO CIRCLING THE CEILING.
A CUSTOM MIRROR - CRAFTED FROM A SCULPTURAL CAROB TREE ROOT OFFERS A NOD TO THE CLIENT'S NAMIBIAN HERITAGE — INTRODUCES A NATURAL, ORGANIC LAYER AGAINST THE CLEAN GEOMETRY OF THE SPACE. A BRIZO WALL MOUNTED FAUCET WITH TEAK CROSS HANDLES AND A STREAMLINED MAPLE VANITY COMPLETE THE DESIGN. THE RESULT IS A MINIMALIST, ARTFUL RETREAT WHERE MODERN PRECISION MEETS THE WARTH OF NATURE.
